Hideaway Grove

In 2016 and 2017, I was honored to work alongside two of my talented friends and classmates Nathan Evans and Emily Peck on the Savannah College of Art and Design’s finalist-placing entry in the 2017 Disney ImagiNations competition – Hideaway Grove.

Nestled amongst the Spanish moss in the heart of Savannah, Georgia, this urban forest offers a total immersion in nature that engages the senses, rejuvenates mind and body, and rekindles a childlike sense of play. A variety of unique spaces including five open-air tree houses serve as collaborative workspaces for small groups. A rotating selection of local restaurants offers a taste of the South, and an ongoing program would engage students to work with a local nonprofit and create artwork to tell community stories incorporated into a nighttime spectacle which would raise exposure and funds for the nonprofit’s mission.

Interior concept rendering of one of our treehouses for the project. I was responsible for creating base 3D geometry, lighting and shadows for Nathan to then illustrate over. This process was used for several of our renderings.

I was also responsible for taking a concept sketch of our site plan, developed by Nathan and Emily, and turning it into a vector illustration for our project.
